This is a very enjoyable book to peruse and read. Sandi Morais is a long-time fitness instructor and a certified instructor with the International Fitness Professional Association (IFPA). In Tune-Up, she presents a simple, non-intimidating 30 minute workout program which requires only some music a set of 3 pounds hand weights and a mat to lie on. Morais covers all the necessary information that you need to know before starting the program, such as determining your target heart rate zone, warming up, and record keeping. She also provides a more intense exercise routine and a sample diet courtesy of personal trainer and 1992 American Gladiator Grand Champion Clifton Miller.
Morais doesn’t neglect the other aspects of your health; she also provides some advice on emotional and mental re-tuning, with a list of suggested readings, and some vegetarian recipes. Also included is a stretching routine for those of us who are desk-bound for eight hours every day.
Enhancing the entire book are photographs clearly illustrating the exercises taken by the actor Philip Michael Thomas. Morais also produces a video available from her website, The Golden Workout, with music produced and performed by Thomas.
*Part of the proceeds from this book will go to the Olive Excell Foundation, named after the author’s mother.*
